Texas Roadhouse, Abq, NM
I think I'm going to like this journal. I like to dine out. :)
One place my brother and I have been eating lately is the
Texas Roadhouse on the I-25 northbound frontage road just
past Jefferson. When it first opened it was always too crowded,
but lately we've been able to get seats in a reasonable amount
of time, depending on the time of day.
Anyhow, this restaurant is a "Texas themed" steak house, kind
of similar to a "Lone Star" steakhouse. It's better, IMO.
One of my favorite things is warm bread and butter usually
served befoer the meals, and their bread is always baked fresh
and not allowed to sit more than five minutes after being
taken out of the oven. It's _really_ good.
I've had the filet, ribs, and ribeye so far, and all were
really good. Especially the filet. It is a real filet that
can be cut with nothing but your fork. From the flavor, it
tastes like it's cooked over a wood fire.
There are a lot of choices on the menu besides steak, like ribs,
chicken, and a couple of fish/seafood choices.
The side salad is pretty good, as is the chili. Depending on
what sides you order, your entree may seem a bit sparse, because
the sides can be served separately. (The salad, for instance)
There's a bit of a cowboy atmosphere (surprise). I like country
music, so I don't mind it playing in the background. If you're
really hungry while waiting, there's free peanuts in the waiting
lobby, where you can just toss the shells on the floor.
I have yet to leave there without being completely stuffed, and
highly recommend this restaurant.
